delia-smith-40-years-showCelebrity chef Delia Smith won't be retiring anytime soon, despite statements that she would prefer it that way. However, yesterday she reportedly agreed to start filming a new television series entitled "40 Years of Delia."

As the name of the upcoming show suggests, this five-part series will honor the forty-year culinary history of one of England's most successful chefs. Smith's discography includes such shows as "Delia's How To Cook" and "Family Fare" as well as her best-selling book, "How To Cheat At Cooking."

Those accustomed to Delia's cooking trademarks may be a bit surprised to see some modern twists on her classic recipes. A spokesperson from the BBC network revealed, "The series will go through the archives and look at how Delia's recipes helped shape what we cook at home and how food tastes have changed." It seems the producers have realized that sometimes an older recipe needs a fresh makeover to compete with current taste trends.

With the mention of modern twists surfacing in Delia Smith's new program, one cannot help but wonder if an original "Delia Effect" will be witnessed again. The phrase was coined several years ago when retail outlets realized that the sales of insignificant products (such as minced beef or omelette pans) rose dramatically after she featured them in her shows.

Fans will be hearing additional news about "40 Years of Delia" around Christmastime when the show is set to be screened for review. The program will then air on the BBC network.
