Likely due to the popular release of his new book "Medium Raw" last month, renowned foodie Anthony Bourdain is now extending an offer for instant stardom to one lucky food writer -- and it could be you.

Bourdain has revealed the details for a new essay contest on his website for "Medium Raw." Each essay must answer the following question in 500 words:  What does it mean to cook food well?

The winning essay, chosen by Tony Bourdain and an online voting community, will be published in a new paperback edition of "Medium Raw." Bourdain says he will visit the book's website from time to time, reviewing and commenting on the entries received. And in this case, putting a contest to public vote won't be anything like American Idol, for example. Yes, the votes will help him make his decision -- but in the end, Bourdain says he "has the final say on which essay makes it into the book."

He says he was inspired to create this contest because his rise to success "came out of nowhere," and he wants to extend that success to the next great food writer.
