How much would a nationally-broadcast TV show have to pay you in order to tag you with the title, "Worst Cook In America?" How about... $25,000? For someone in the spring of 2010, they'll be able to say just that -- because "Worst Cooks In America" is actually a new Food Network series which starts in a couple of months.
The premise of the show is as follows: Twelve "recruits" will be dragged through a culinary boot camp led by two familiar faces in celebrity chefdom. Hosts Anne Burrell and Beau MacMillan will separately lead a team of six recruits, offering their respective teams tips and tricks to win during elimination challenges.
And we're all familiar with the course of events on modern reality shows. Each week, one recruit is eliminated until two are left standing. The two finalists will then be asked to prepare a three-course, restaurant-quality meal for guests of Burrell and MacMillan. The catch is that the guests won't know that the meal wasn't cooked by their hosts, meaning the two finalists will have to pull out all the stops to fool their gastronomically-educated guests.
Fortunately, the winner of "Worst Cooks" doesn't have to live with that title for the rest of their life. They'll walk away with a grand prize check of $25,000, as well as the satisfaction of pleasing a room full of high-brow culinary gurus during their final challenge.
The Food Network's "Worst Cooks In America" debuts on January 3, 2010, and airs its season finale on February 1.
