Brampton’s 13th Annual Celebrity Chef Event: Men Who Cook

brampton-shrimp-diabloIt was another successful evening for The United Achievers' Club as their 13th Annual Celebrity Chef - Men Who Cook event took place in Brampton, Ontario. Twenty-five chefs presented a total of 27 various gourmet dishes, entertaining 170 guests and volunteers, and earning 14 awards.

Guest "celebrity judges" for the event included Althea Coke, Linda Jeffrey, Ann and Jack Murphy, Shauna Pemberton, Harriet Thornhill, and Dr. Winston Isaac.

Awards were presented to the celebrity chefs in the following categories: appetizers, soups, entrees, and desserts. Two special awards were given at the culmination of the event as well-- The People's Choice, and Celebrity Chef of the Year.

Inspector Robert Orr took first prize with his "Shrimp Diablo" appetizer. Kenrick Sylvestre, Jr.'s "Cajun Dikembe-Ma-Gumbo" earned him a first-place award in the soup category. Raymond Sharpe's main entree won first place, entitled "Ray's Honey Garlic Pepper Chicken." And finishing the course competition was Dale Williams, with his award-winning dessert "Sex In a Pan."

Chef Gary Batasar left the event with the coveted People's Choice Award, while Chef Dale Williams also garnered the final Celebrity Chef of the Year award in addition to winning the dessert category.

Proceeds from the event benefited the United Achievers' scholarship foundation as well as the Sickle Cell Disease Support at Brampton Civic Hospital.
