I never thought about using one before visiting one of those fantastic Chicago pizza places and tasting their creations baked on stone in a wood fire oven. While I can't yet afford the wood-burning, full-size version, I would be perfectly happy with this compromise.

In the Cuisinart Brick Oven, the sides are lined with brick inserts, and there is a baking stone included. The baking stone can be removed if you prefer to cook with the rack instead. The additional heat penetrates to make your best dishes better and improve even the cheapest store-bought pizza in flavor and appearance.

Bake, broil, brown, or toast just as you do in a regular toaster oven, but enjoy shorter cook times thanks to the convection process. The inside areas that aren't covered in brick are nonstick and wipe clean. People who have used it claim that this oven makes some of the best roasted meats they've ever had. It is also small enough for the counter or to go in an RV, dorm room, or any place where a full oven is inconvenient, yet the functions of a full oven are still needed.

The CPT-120 is a less expensive model with the features of a fancier appliance.

Users don't rave about the Classic, but they appreciate that it more consistently creates decent toast and they like having setting options such as the defrost this toaster offers. The unit does have a unique, retro look and it is very handy to be able to stop the toasting process at the push of a button. Clearly labeled buttons and the knob for browning will make this model easier to use for younger and older family members. The cleats under the toaster are an interesting twist on cord storage solution.

As great as all the added functions are, they simply don't matter when you have raw or half burned goods coming out of the appliance time and again. It's a shame, really, to do such damage to what was once considered a dependable brand name.

I remember mine in college, a lowly metal box, good only for melting cheese on toast and the formica counter beneath it. Today's models can replace your standard oven quite practically, for all but the largest baking and roasting needs.

Case in point, this Cuisinart Convection Oven. Very sleek looking and high-tech, this oven has a generous capacity interior that will accommodate a frozen pizza, a pan of muffins or cookies, you name it. The extensive electronic control panel puts all the settings in easy reach, although some may find it a bit over-complicated for just making toast. Honestly, toast?

Plenty of cooking power, 1500 watts heat this sucker mighty fast when you need that pizza like, now. Although I find the convection feature overkill on an oven of this size. It is basically a fan that circulates the hot air to bake items faster and more evenly, and in turn burn items that much sooner if you're not paying attention. You may find it a very useful feature though, I'm not one to judge.

This oven lacks one simple feature however- an interior light. The glass door does not help you see the food inside very well without it. One other thing- Cuisinart advertises this Toaster Oven as Stainless Steel. In reality it is silver painted metal, with Stainless Steel accents and trim. Not what one would expect with that description. They may upgrade the unit yet, after enough angry calls to customer service. We'll see.

The wire rack (which has two positions), broiling pan, and drip tray are dishwasher safe. There is a removable crumb catcher and a manual with many recipes to encourage regular use.

Beware of the oven door, which gets very hot when the oven has been in use. Also, the handle is designed in a manner that can allow you to burn your hand if you tend to grasp the handle instead of simply pulling it from the front.

Customers love how quickly the oven heats and that it doesn't dry out food the way less expensive models can. The only complaints about this neat little oven are that it is bulky and toast doesn't always come out as desired, but other items seem to do very well.
