It's almost here -- the American pastime of watching NFC vs. AFC football, laughing (or grimacing) at the best new commercials that multi-million dollar companies have to offer, and chowing down on mouth-watering appetizers galore. Yes, it's Super Bowl time, and it's increasing in popularity. Last year's game was watched by a record-breaking 106 million viewers.

Celebrity chefs Bobby Flay and Guy Fieri have a few good tips to keep in mind when planning the menu for Sunday's Super Bowl. Here are some ideas and recipes from the pros:

Flay advises party hosts to go beyond the standard fare of wings and chips to create a "zestier" Super Bowl party. "I make sure to make things that people recognize, and then I put a little twist on them," he says. Wings can be made with an Asian-style or Chipotle glaze instead of barbecue sauce. Another variation is a New Mexican green chili served with tortillas instead of chips and chili dip.

He also stressed the importance of cooking as much as possible beforehand. "You don't want to be in the kitchen. You want to watch the game."

One idea Flay has for an appetizer easily prepared in advance is a platter of oyster shooters. The oyster topping is a mixture of vodka, tomato juice, fresh orange juice, and small amounts of fresh lime juice and bottled horseradish. "Put an oyster in a bottom of a little shot glass and pour that mixture over it and serve as oyster shooters. They are delicious and Super Bowl friendly," Flay adds.

Guy Fieri offered similar stress-free tips during his visit to CBS's "The Early Show," preferring a menu that's all about easy finger foods. The Ritz Cracker spokesperson described how to make two recipes: Ritz Cheese Steak Sliders, and Bacon-Wrapped Prawns with Chipotle BBQ Sauce. Both of these recipes can be found on the CBS News website.
