Chef Bobby Flay’s Latest Cookbook “Burgers, Fries & Shakes”

bobby-flay-burgers-fries-shakesLast month, Chef Bobby Flay's newest cookbook "Burgers, Fries & Shakes" hit the shelves. His love of hamburger meat comes as no surprise, due to his television shows "Grill It! With Bobby Flay" and "Throwdown" on the Food Network.

As the title suggests, Flay's intent is to help readers create "a crusty-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside burger; a fistful of golden, crisp, salty fries; and a thick, icy milkshake." Pictures of delicious patties, potatoes, and fountain drinks cover the pages, along with helpful tips such as making sure a burger patty isn't thicker than 3/4 of an inch before placing it on the grill.

Chef Bobby Flay's meat philosophy stays true throughout the course of this cookbook. He doesn't believe in "meatloaf burgers;" the recipes keep the authentic flavor of certified Angus chuck, using just salt and pepper for seasoning.

Other recipe categories in the book include condiments, seasonings, and locations (for instance, the Argentinian Burger). Readers can also flip through the book to find recipes for salmon burgers, sweet potato fries, and blackberry cheesecake milkshakes, just to name a few.

Those looking for a more laid-back, homestyle approach to grilling burgers might favor Chef Flay's cookbook over the recent "Emeril At the Grill." While the latter is noteworthy for its ethnic variety and gourmet influence, Bobby Flay's "Burgers, Fries & Shakes" encompasses both the basics and trends of cooking the perfect hamburger.
