Chef John Burton Race Named Head of Development For Kent Inns of Distinction

Posted by on May 28

john-burton-race-kentUK celebrity chef John Burton Race has just been honorably named the head of group development for Kent Inns of Distinction. And as part of this newly-acquired position, he will be opening two additional restaurants, contributing significantly to the menu and staff.

John Burton Race has already achieved household-name status, starring in such shows as "French Leave" and "Return of the Chef." But his multiple Michelin stars support the professional quality that comes to mind whenever one mentions his name. Burton Race's involvement in restaurants such as New Angel, L'ortolan, and the Landmark Hotel speak for themselves.

Soon, two more restaurants will be added to John Burton Race's repertoire. The Kent company recently acquired Tonbridge's Ivy House, a historic landmark dating back to the 15th century. Additionally, Harvey's Fish Market & Oyster Bar in Ramsgate's Royal Harbour is slated for a grand opening next month. Both restaurant facilities had been previously closed and unused for quite some time before massive reconstruction projects saw the buildings fit for business.

The owners of Harvey's pub, Richard and Sherry Martin, aren't concerned about the current restaurant economy in the least. They are pleased that their newest property revolves around three important words: location, location, and location.

In a recent interview, Richard Martin stated, "Our business is all about food, and despite the downturn and doom-mongering in some corners of the press, our customers are still coming out to eat." Very encouraging news, indeed.
