rachel-ray-lake-george-dunkinCelebrity chef Rachael Ray took part in an annual "homecoming" tradition of sorts during the last week of April: raising money for her alma mater.

This is the seventh year in a row that Rachael Ray hasn't forgotten her New York roots, coming back to Lake George High School for a cooking fundraiser. She hosted a cooking demonstration, answered questions from the audience, and excitedly talked about her new charity Yum-o! Organization.

She also mentioned her recent work with Dunkin' Donuts, where she is actively helping them create wholesome choices for their menu. Her goal is to eliminate trans fats from the donuts entirely -- while that won't make the donuts healthy per se, they will be healthi-er.

And true to character, Ray put a distinct non-emphasis on her celebrity chef status, saying,"As with any other job in life that I've gotten, I just sort of had to dive into it and say 'Well if all these other people can do it, I can certainly learn how to do it'."

Ticket sales for the event went to benefit the Second Year College Scholarships fund, providing scholarships which are awarded to Lake George students. The fundraiser also helped to purchase extra technical equipment, gymnasium/playground resources, and library books for the school.
