Cuisinart Chef's Classic Everyday Pan If I could only have one piece of cookware, it would likely be a 12-inch pan like this. You can cook anything in this pan. It's deep enough for soups. Great for sautes or stir-fries, too. And it goes right into your oven. Perfect for chicken-and-rice dishes and other casseroles. The large surface makes cooking pancakes a breeze.

This would be a great gift for a college student, someone who is moving into their first apartment, or anyone who has a small kitchen. The two handles make it easy to bring the pan right to your table, where it is handsome enough to serve from.

Quantanium sounds like a make-believe metal, or perhaps a material you could build a rocket ship out of. But it's real and it makes a nice, sturdy nonstick finish, too. This one is reinforced with titanium and seems bulletproof. You don't really have to use oil or butter to keep the food from sticking. Even eggs slide right out.

As with all non-stick, you need to follow the instructions to keep it in good shape. Don't use metal utensils, don't put it in the dishwasher, etc.

It is a rather large pan. It really reminds me of a paella pan. So it's great for groups or large families. But it might be overkill if you are single or even a couple. And the handles get pretty hot, even when you are using it on the stove top. You can jut use hot pads, so it's not a big deal.

Also, it is made of hard-anodized aluminum, which is even stronger than stainless steel. But it feels light. I think some people equate that lightness with a lack of quality, Personally, I'm glad this pan is on the lighter side, Because of it's size, it would be hard to maneuver if it were any heavier.
