Cuisinart Compact Deep Fryer Compact deep fryers can be very handy to have around in the kitchen. Gone are the days of frying onion rings in a big pot on the stove, and the smoke and mess associated with such a method. The Cuisinart Deep Fryer, with a 1.1-liter capacity, takes up little space on the counter and comes with features for convenience as well as safety.

The heating element produces 1000 watts. Temperature is controlled by a thermostat with a range up to 375 degrees and a die-cast frying bowl for even heating. It comes with a stainless steel frying basket and a lid featuring an integral charcoal filter. The controls are easy to operate and the fryer has a 30 minute shut-off timer for added safety.

The unit is the size and shape of a toaster, with handles on either side for easy transporting. While handy for its size, the problem with the small deep fryer is one of simple thermodynamics. Small fryer means less oil and smaller heating element, thusly the quicker it cools as food is added. This results in uneven frying unless you stick to cooking very small amounts, which is less convenient and more time consuming.

For the occasional deep fried treat, a small fryer such as this might be ideal. If you want a kitchen appliance with the capability to prepare a deep fried meal such as fish and chips, you probably want to find a larger more powerful unit. Otherwise you may come down with SFFS, or Small Fryer Fatigue Syndrome.
