Cuisinart SmartPower Blender The Cuisinart SmartPower has six hundred watts of power ready to handle your blending needs. Its heavy die-cast metal base keeps the blender solidly in contact with the counter as you mix. The included fifty ounce glass jar has a strong plastic handle with a metal look.

The blades are sharp and precise enough to chop small items such as garlic cloves and herbs, plus the whole blade unit detaches for fast cleaning. A unique digital count up timer begins timing when you begin to blend. Puree, blend smoothies, pulse with high and low speeds; it also has a separate button just for the ice crushing function.

This blender comes with an instruction manual, recipe booklet and the Cuisinart three year warranty.

I'm not sure how Cuisinart went so wrong with this model. The first thing to catch my attention was the count up timer. I have never in my history of cooking needed to time my blending. I'm simply not sure why this is a feature. Far worse than befuddlement over the time, a majority of users have experienced an array of problems: from the excessive noise of operation, issues pouring ingredients from the jar, food getting stuck in the jar in a manner nearly impossible to clean, to a burning aroma the motor tends to give off whether new from the box or well-broken in. Oh, and the assembly leaks, and there are some design flaws leading to failure (the gear housing shearing off the base very common) of the unit. The burning odor, pouring issues, defects, and noise have plagued even users who were mostly pleased with their blender.

It seems to crush ice uniformly and the glass jar retains its look better than a plastic one which could scratch and pit, but these feel like faint praise for this seemingly damned product.
