Cuisinart SmartPower Duet Food This combo blender/food processor may be the ideal candidate for anyone who values versatility over volume in their food processing needs.

This unit features a 3 Cup food processor bowl, complete with the standard chopping blade and a reversible slicing/shredding disc. The blender attachment is a bit less, um, compact. The glass pitcher holds 40 ounces of liquid, which is large enough for common blending tasks. Another nice feature: glass pitchers such as these don't scratch or discolor over time like plastic pitchers, nor do they pick up the odors of food blended in them.

The base to this feels very heavy and substantial, the motor is rated at 500 watts, and the "Black Chrome" finish is rather handsome and novel for a kitchen appliance. The touchpad controls are simple and uncluttered, and include indicator lights for clarity when using the machine with either attachment.

The decidedly compact processor attachment has an oversized black plastic shroud at its base. This seems, more than anything, meant to give the appearance of greater size to the diminutive bowl. Just adding a cup or two of capacity instead would have made this food processor a bit more functional. Still, versatility is the strong suit with this machine, and it delivers in that department.
