This year's Fine Cooking Epicurean Classic Presented by KitchenAid, coming to St. Joseph, Michigan in August, is expected to be bigger than ever before. The event's new marketing campaign, increase of technology, and local involvement all have a part to play in its potential growth.
"Fine Cooking" editor Laurie Buckle says she is excited to participate in an "event that is 100% about cooking." She says the Fine Cooking Epicurean Classic is all about a more intimate culinary experience, where cooks can attend classes led by experts in their field and even test several cooking products the way they want during demonstrations.
This year, the promotional activity has been stepped up a notch, although the festival's creator, Mark Dressler, says it's a delicate balance to still maintain the intimacy of the event. The cooking demo areas have been expanded, along with the festival's print ad material and web content. Additionally, folks at the Epicurean Classic have put together a new series of mobile apps that will help guide guests through the vast array of events this year.
"We're preparing for an increase in attendance this year without compromising the intimate, hands-on nature of the Classic," says Dressler. And he's hoping that the events themselves will keep that quality intact -- although the specific lineup of guest speakers, classes, cooking demonstrations, cookbook signings, and food/wine tastings have yet to be announced at this time.
The Fine Cooking Epicurean Classic Presented by KitchenAid will be held at St. Joseph's newly constructed beachside park, pavilion, and amphitheater during August 27-29, 2010.
