Suave soccer superstar David Beckham may well be under way to co-open a pub in Los Angeles with celebrity chef and star of America's new "Masterchef" series Gordon Ramsay. The two have been friends for years and constantly say they would love to open a restaurant together. Now, it seems that opportunity may be closer than they realize.
Three years ago, Beckham moved to the United States from the UK to play for the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team. As those years have passed, he says he's settled in nicely -- save for culinary nostalgia. A friend of David's told the Daily Star newspaper, "He wants pie and mash, fish and chips, and even chicken in a basket on the menu, just like the meals he eats when he's in the UK." Even Beckham himself admitted, "I miss English pubs, having a good lager shandy and a Sunday lunch or roast dinner while watching the football."
His current plan would be to name the pub The Queen Vic to honor his wife, former Spice Girl and current fashion maven Victoria Beckham.
But these plans are not set in stone as of yet. A spokesperson for Beckham says, "There are no plans in the pipeline, but never say never."
