What's that sound? Silence. What happened to the dishwasher?! A quick run to the kitchen reveals it's running smoothly, without a sound. How is this possible?
This was the product that introduced me to the genius of Fisher and Paykel design. The dish drawer, so simple! Why did no one think of this before? Each drawer holds six place settings, plates up to twelve inches, and uses under two gallons of water for a wash. The drawers operate independently, practically like having two separate machines. Its variable water pressure allows you to put more fragile items in one drawer, cookware or heavy duty items in the other.
One of the most irksome failures of my previous dishwasher was obvious when I'd open the door. I'd find the detergent caked and cooked onto the front panel, where it had barely eeked out of the cup. The DishDrawer has a flow-through detergent dispenser, eliminating that issue altogether. It also has a water softener option, a savior if you're on well water or have hard water problems.
There are numerous extras to enhance function, from adjustable and fold-down racks to delayed wash and half-load capability, flood protection and child locks... Is it unseemly to get this excited about a dishwasher?
