foodandwinelogooprylandThe first-ever Food Network Southern Food & Wine Festival is coming to Nashville at the end of July, and will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort.

As is the case with any food-related extravaganza, guests can expect to experience celebrities, samplings, seminars, and sweepstakes throughout the event. Over 80 businesses, restaurants, and wineries will be on hand to showcase their specialties from across the Nashville and Tennessee regions.

Celebrity chef appearances include the Food Network's own Alton Brown, Bobby and Jamie Deen, and Pat and Gina Neely. Other award-winning executive chefs from the Gaylord Opryland's restaurant staff will be hosting cooking demonstrations and seminars as well.

Guests can also compete in the festival's first annual Slow-Cooker Competition, sponsored by Hamilton Beach. The first 80 to register for the competition will be entered into a "mystery ingredient" recipe challenge. Winners will receive cash awards and prizes after being judged by the Gaylord Opryland Resort's own executive chefs along with guests chefs from additional well-known restaurants in Nashville.

The Food Network Southern Food & Wine Festival will be held July 31-August 2, 2009. Visit the Food Network website or PR Web for additional details and a schedule of events.
