It seems every appliance manufacturer tries to outdo the other with their offering. Sometimes it's more power or features and often it's more competitively priced.
This food processor from Hamilton Beach promises more power AND better value than others on the market. The first thing you notice about the Big Mouth Food Processor is the size. This thing is a beast sitting on the kitchen counter. A 450-watt motor and a 14-cup capacity bowl show generosity both in the power and the volume of food that this will process.
It features an extra large feed tube, for processing whole vegetables. This feature, while novel, is less than practical for many slicing and processing jobs. For instance, the advertisements show a whole yellow pepper going into the unit. Eww, I would never process a pepper without removing the seeds and bitter pith from it. That aside, it is apparent that this is capable of working through lots of processing jobs in short order.
The large size and weight of this unit sit very stable on the counter while in use. Unlike the single speed option on most other food processors, the rotary dial features four speeds plus a pulse control. This allows more flexibility in the processing, er, process.
The only issues I have with this processor are that the parts seem a bit over-designed at the expense of simplicity. It takes some work to figure out how everything fits together initially.
The unit comes with a mixing/chopping blade and reversible slicing/shredding disc. Both blades store in the bowl for convenience, and all removable parts are dishwasher safe. Hamilton Beach backs up the Big Mouth with a one-year limited warranty.
