Hamilton Beach Ensemble Coffee Maker

Well, it does appear that red is the new black, at least in kitchen appliances. Hamilton Beach has a whole line of color coordinated kitchenware for those of you craving a crimson covered countertop collection. Whew.

This coffeemaker has a solid feel to it and a cool retro vibe going on that sets it apart from many others in this price range. Nothing fancy here besides the color, and that's a plus for those tired of overcomplicated, overpriced machines. There is a programmable timer for setting it up to brew in advance and an easy to fill glass carafe with a big ol' red handle. Even I couldn't miss finding that in my early morning caffeine deprived state.

Although the body of this is made of plastic, the brushed stainless accents keep it from looking like a cheapo, and the large digital clock on the display works well to balance out the whole package. Additional features include a 2-hour auto shut off, and a water filter.

Hamilton Beach has teamed up with the American Heart Association in a campaign to fight women's heart disease, called Go Red For Women. The company is promoting the movement with their line of red kitchen appliances, as well as making donations to the cause. The idea is to use the color red as a symbol to raise awareness.
