faye levy jewish authorCookbook author and James Beard recipient Faye Levy has also won several other awards for her expertise in Jewish holiday cooking.  And next month, she'll be in the Irvine, CA area to present her culinary skills to the public.

Faye Levy is a well-known voice in the kosher culinary community, writing such cookbooks as "1000 Jewish Recipes" and the "International Jewish Cookbook."  She is also a grand diplome graduate from the respected La Varenne Cooking School in Paris.

Meals such as Italian braised cod, French/Alsace raisin matzah kugel, and Yemenite tomato salsa reflect multi-cultural flavors learned through years of travel and life experience. Levy is an American married to an Israeli, and was raised on Eastern European kosher cuisine. She also credits her Indian sister-in-law with contributing to her ethnic mix of culinary arts.

The Merage JCC (Jewish Community Center) will host Levy's presentation as she offers holiday menu planning tips and ways to make a kosher meal both delicious and nutritious -- likely focusing on September's upcoming Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur holidays. Guests will also get to sample a variety of her signature dishes during an informal luncheon.

Faye Levy will be at Irvine's Merage JCC at noon on September 10, 2009.
