maria liberati basic art of italianCelebrity chef Maria Liberati is often considered as one of the foremost authorities on Italian-American cuisine and culture. She's the current Director of The Basic Art of Italian Cooking School in Italy, and travels frequently to the USA as spokeswoman for the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Feast Your Eyes Campaign.

In September, Liberati released a new cookbook titled, "The Basic Art of Italian Cooking: Holidays and Special Occasions." But calling it a "cookbook" might be a bit misleading. It's more of an intimate travelogue as you're taken along for the ride on Liberati's personal journey. The book features her favorite recipes that helped shape her relationships with family and friends.

To celebrate its release, Maria Liberati will be hosting a presentation and book signing next week on November 14 in New Jersey, which comes just in time for new holiday planning ideas. She says that her presentation will be chock-full of Italian holiday traditions, and will "combine the pleasures of food, friends, and family memories experienced with recipes for holiday meals that make any meal feel like a special occasion."

Registration is required to attend Liberati's holiday cooking event, even though it's free and open to the public. She will be appearing at New Jersey's Warren Township Library at 2:00 p.m. on the 14th of November, 2009.

After the book tour, upcoming plans for Liberati include a new cookbook inspired by the artwork of Leonardo Da Vinci, and possibly creating her own TV series.
