KitchenAid continues to add to their lineup, this time with a colorful set of nonstick cookware sure to please those looking for a comprehensive set for the kitchen.
The set is made from heavy aluminum for even heating with a bright red porcelain enamel finish on the exterior. The interior is coated with a proprietary non-stick finish-- three layers primed with a ceramic material for durability and easy cleaning. All of the pans except the two skillets come with tight fitting stainless steel lids. The handles of the cookware and lids are also stainless steel, and feature silicone grips for comfort in a matching red hue. The silicone lends a nice feel to the handles, and stays cool to the touch regardless of how hot the cookware is while in use.
While I am an advocate of buying cookware individually, as one needs it, this would be a good way to get one set up quickly in a new kitchen. The price is a considerable savings over buying the pans one by one. There are a couple of things important to note about this set by Kitchenaid. They are NOT to be washed in the dishwasher, as the finish will be profoundly affected and lose its color. Also, these are not appropriate for glass or ceramic cooktops. That would not be something you want to find out while using for the first time in your own kitchen. They are however, safe for use in the oven up to 350 degrees.
