I like perks. As luck would have it, Mario Batali likes perks, too. But who doesn't, really?
Batali's 6-Quart Italian Essentials Pot offers some of the same features you may find cookware from other companies. For example, the cookware is constructed of durable cast-iron which provides exceptional heat retention. It also sports a porcelain-enamal interior and exterior which require no seasoning and clean easily.
Like many of its competitor's pots, Batali's are oven-safe up to 500-degrees F and safe for use on gas, electric, and ceramic-top ranges. The pot has two looping side handles to make it easy and safe to move the pot to and from the oven (or from the stove to your table, because this is a dish from which you'll definitely want to serve).
But what about those perks?
Batali's 6-quart Italian Essentials Pot has a useful and unique feature. On the interior of the close-fitting lid there are self-basting spikes which ensure continuous and natural basting. It makes my mouth water just thinking of roasts or small chickens I could cook up in this pot.
But perhaps the biggest perk to this big-size pot is that it comes with a sixteen page booklet with recipes from Mario Batali's latest cookbook, "Molto Italiano." I've yet to come across any other six-quart pot that includes that kind of bonus. Molto grazie, Mario.
