On April 17th, the city of Wilmington, DL hosted many recognizable chefs to present a high-class Celebrity Chefs Brunch, part of the city's "Meals From the Masters" series. The event is one of many fundraisers benefiting the non-profit organization Meals On Wheels, a charity that provides meals to homebound seniors and shut-ins.

Featured chefs were former Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard, named as one of Food & Wine's Best New Chefs for 2011, along with Lee Anne Wong from Cooking Channel's Unique Eats.

Dozens of additional chefs flew in from around the country to participate, including Jeanette Behrens-Quintana from New Jersey's Chelsea Hotel, Koren Grieveson from Avec in Chicago, New Orleans' Brian Landry of Galatoire’s on Bourbon, Mark Levy from The Point Resort in New York, and Mark Salter from Maryland's Robert Morris Inn.

Patrons dined on goat belly chorizo drizzled with maple syrup and strawberries, goat cheese ice cream, lamb sausage and smoked lard biscuits, duck breast that had been dry-aged for 14 years, bluefish & crab cakes with a Meyer lemon remoulade, and even foie gras "lollipops."

The Celebrity Chef Brunch is one of several events presented by the "Meals From the Masters" program, which raises over $500,000 for Meals On Wheels annually. Previous functions this past weekend included an Evening with the Masters dinner and a Cellar Masters' Live Wine Auction. Additional "Meals From the Masters" events will continue this year with the ninth annual Celebrity Chefs' Beach Brunch and the fourth annual Denim and Diamonds dinner, both scheduled for Fall 2011.
