Every woman should have a recipe for sinfully delicious chocolate cake, because you just never know when you'll get that chocolatey craving. Since this cake recipe uses melted baker's chocolate instead of cocoa powder, you can imagine just how delectable the consistency will be once it's cooled from the oven. Mmmm...

  • 4 ounces unsweetened baker's chocolate
  • 1/2 pound unsalted butter
  • 2 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • Frosting as desired
  • Chocolate bar for shaving (optional)
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt chocolate over low heat until well melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. In a large mixing bowl, blend dry ingredients. Slowly add chocolate, milk and eggs to the dry ingredients, mixing well. Beat until the batter is smooth and has no lumps. Spread into two greased, round cake pans or a sheet pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool and frost as desired. Serve with ice cream or fresh whipped cream on top with chocolate shavings for an added touch.
