Next month, two new chef autobiographies that are already garnering a lot of favorable press from celebrity advance readers will be hitting bookshelves across the nation and online.

The first is "Blood, Bones and Butter: An Inadvertent Education From a Reluctant Chef," the debut memoir from New York chef Gabrielle Hamilton. She is the owner of the award-winning Prune in the East Village, a restaurant hailed by "New York Restaurants" as "an American bistro of unpretentious home cooking." Her memoir chronicles an unconventional journey through kitchens in France, Greece, and Turkey with a humorous tone that is both gritty and lyrical.

Hamilton's work is also endorsed by one of the most well-known culinary memoir authors today, Anthony Bourdain, who says the book is "magnificent. Simply the best memoir written by a chef ever. Ever."

Another memoir soon to be released is "Life, On the Line: A Chef's Story of Chasing Greatness, Facing Death, and Redefining the Way We Eat," an inspirational work written by Chef Grant Achatz and co-written alongside his business partner Nick Kokonas. James Beard Award-winning Achatz is the creative mind behind Chicago's Alinea restaurant, which has received numerous awards of its own. His career began under the tutelage of renowned chefs Charlie Trotter and Thomas Keller.

Achatz was diagnosed with tongue cancer during the height of his career. Doctors advised him to take out the infected portion of his tongue -- which, for a chef, seemed an insurmountable challenge. Today, Achatz is is full recovery and continues to shake things up at Alinea with only half a tongue and no taste buds.

Hamilton's "Blood, Bones and Butter" will be released on March 1 by Random House, and Achatz's "Life, On the Line" will be released by Gotham on March 3.
