For those of you who plan on making your Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts in traditional southern home cooking fashion, you're in luck. A new line of Paula Deen spices is getting ready to hit the shelves just in time for holiday preparations.
Paula Deen's spice collection is being manufactured and distributed by the Michigan-based company Quality Food Brands, a subsidiary branch of Synergy Brands of Syosset. The deal was actually announced small-scale back in September, during which Deen professed her encouragement for the product launch. "I am pleased to announce this collaboration with Quality Food Brands to produce my line of spices for the grocery store category. I am confident that they will produce quality products that are a value to today's shopper."
Currently, six different spices comprise the Paula Deen collection: sea salt, poultry seasoning, garlic & sea salt, onion & sea salt, cinnamon essence, and black peppercorns. Each one comes with its own built-in spice grinder, which is fully adjustable to suit a cook's preference.
Right now, Quality Food Brands is aiming to get the spices into 10,000 grocery stores in time for the holidays. Afterwards, the company is looking at an expansive 50,000-store distribution project by spring of 2010.
