This October, a three-day event will be launched at San Francisco's Treasure Island, a reportedly self-sufficient historic locale for northern Californians. It's a fitting location, since the festival will indulge guests in all things sustainable, eco-friendly, healthy, and inspirational.

Sponsored by The KI (pronounced "key"), the event will feature renowned celebrity chef, author, and restaurateur Matthew Kenney of the "pop-up" restaurant 105degrees. This dining concept was launched by Kenney in 2008 as a hub for raw foods and living cuisine, taking the next step beyond an organic lifestyle into the realm of gourmet cuisine. He has since been named as one of "Food & Wine's" Best New Chefs and has recently launched the 105degrees Academy, the first state-licensed culinary academy to focus on raw and vegan culinary arts.

Kenney will present his cooking demonstration at The KI Showcase in a purpose-built, interactive restaurant environment designed specifically for the festival. The recipes will likely highlight Kenney's passion for foods that are organic, vegetarian, and sustainable.

Other features during the festival include the debut of the 100% electric Nissan Leaf, an eco-friendly fashion show by designer Bahar Shahpar, test rides for Zero and Brammo electric motorcycles, and a vast collection of premium wines available for tasting.

More information on this event, which will be held October 22-24, can be found at www.theki.net.
