Proctor Silex Toaster Oven What makes the Proctor-Silex 4-Slice Toaster Oven/Broiler different from all the other toaster ovens out there? Several things--some of which may be seen as bonuses, others of which may be seen as shortcomings. It all depends on your perspective.

The Proctor-Silex 4-Slice Toaster Oven/Broiler is just that: a toaster oven/broiler. It is not a convection oven, which is good if you're not wanting a convection oven, because that will bring the price down.

It toasts well- evenly and quickly- though it is a tight fit to get four slices in there at once.

Its appearance is different from most toaster ovens in that it has a rounded shape, making it look a bit like a space-age, log-shaped cooking tool. The aerodynamics of the toaster oven have no effect on its ability or effectiveness. However, the rounded door does make it easy to view the bagel toasting, or the pizza slice reheating.

The rounded door also means that the oven door rolls back, like an old-fashioned roll top desk. This may be a bonus for people with small children. No more curious hands reaching up to the counter and pulling down the toaster oven door. To others it may make no difference at all.

Compare this with Cuisinart's toaster oven.
