The Sexiest Food Movies - a category in TheCooksDen's Culinary Cinema Awards.

Runners-Up

Woman on Top - You could put Penelope Cruz in just about any movie and it'd rise to the top of most Sexy Movie Lists. But make her a top chef and you've got the foodie vote as well. Even if the movie is merely good.

Vatel - Sensual might be more appropriate description than sexy. And yet this story, based on the life of Francois Vatel, features food in nearly every scene, including the love scenes. The theme? Food, along with forbidden love, is to live and die for. Gérard Depardieu, Uma Thurman and Eric Roth lead the star-studded cast.

Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos - Though perhaps not quite so sexy by today's standards, this is a hilarious Brazilian take on infidelity. Recently released on DVD, it's definitely worth a look.

Tampopo - Japanese virtuoso director Juzo Itami sidesteps the question of how to sex up his Ramen-making Cinderella story by simply interspersing an entirely-unrelated R-rated love story. Sure it sounds strange, but it works.

Honorable mention

Tom Jones - The original, and for some still the best, sexy food movie. Problem is, it's not really a food movie. But it's lots of fun and will make you want to eat with your hands.

9 1/2 Weeks - Another quintessential sexy food movie that just doesn't feature enough food to make our list. See it for Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke in their primes and cuisine as sexy as any other movie on the list.

And the Winner Is...

Like Water For Chocolate - Suppressed love escapes through exotic chocolate making. Like a fine rich batter, this one is sumptuous and decadent. By the time the lead characters passion ignites a house fire, you'll be packing your bags for Mexico.
