Sometimes it's better not to go from zero to one hundred in ten seconds flat. Sunbeam has turned that idea into a feature on their new stand mixers. It's called soft start technology. And it means no more chocolate cake batter splattered on your kitchen walls. (This is a good thing. More batter in the bowl means more cake to eat.)
In addition to soft start technology, the Sunbeam 2371 Mixmaster offers a soft grip handle, tilt locking head with bowl selector switch, and 350 watts and twelve speeds of mixing power. Sunbeam's off-center mixing allows you to add ingredients while you mix and also requires less scraping.
The Mixmaster includes two glass bowls, chrome beaters, whisks and dough hooks. That's quite a package especially for the price.
Of course, this is no KitchenAid. It doesn't have the outstanding reputation, name power, or attractiveness. But it is a third of the price of a KitchenAid. In some ways, I suppose it's like choosing between Levis or Calvin Klein and blue-jeans-r-us. A certain amount of quality. Pefectly functional. A reasonable price. But will the Sunbeam still be around for you grandkids to use?
I bet many grandmothers still use the KitchenAid Mixers they received as wedding presents. Does yours?
