It's been exactly one year since the fall of the Gourmet Magazine empire, and since then, the culinary world has waited expectantly to learn what's next for former editor and food critic Ruth Reichl -- and it's safe to say she's held out for something worthwhile.

No longer at Conde Nast, Reichl will be making the move to Random House, Inc., the world's largest English language trade publisher. The company announced today that Reichl will become their newest author and editor-at-large, responsible for both print publications and digital media projects.

Reichl is also under contract to write three upcoming books: two non-fiction works as well as a fiction novel entitled, "Delicious." One of her non-fiction books will likely be a memoir inspired by her time at Gourmet, and the second will be "The Tao Of Ruth," which she says is suggested by an Anthony Bourdain story.

"I’m especially excited to have the opportunity to participate in the future of food writing as both an author and a book editor," she announced in her statement to the press. "At Random House I’ll have the opportunity to connect to food lovers in print, and to participate in the ever-expanding digital world."
