World’s First Camel’s Milk Chocolate Goes Global

al-nassmaThe Al Nassma company, founded in the Middle East in October of last year, is currently developing marketing plans to bring their unique style of chocolate to American soil.

Al Nassma is the world's first producer of camel's milk chocolate -- and they claim it is a much healthier alternative than cow's milk. It contains five times the amount of vitamin C, less fat, more insulin, and less lactose, according to executive Martin Van Almsick. The health benefits make it a favorable choice for those with diabetes or lactose intolerance.

Each one of their concoctions are made from local ingredients and do not include any preservatives or chemicals. Al Nassma revealed that their local spices, nuts, and honey provide the foundation for the chocolates' recipes.

Currently, Al Nassma is partnering with Austrian chocolatier Manner to expand their distribution in the Middle East first. They are based in Dubai, and so an initial campaign to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait makes sense. But Van Almsick said to expect Al Nassma chocolates to appear in the U.S. within the next few months. Following their short-term expansion tour, the company also plans to reach Europe and eastern Asia.

"We aim to be the Godiva of the Middle East," Van Almsick said in an interview. "It's a luxury product, so we will never be in supermarkets."
