heart-of-a-chefThis Sunday, the city of Miami, Florida, will be putting celebrity chefs to work towards a good cause -- and the good thing is, it probably won't feel like work at all!

It's time once again for the annual Heart of a Chef Festival. This event features sampling of local (and healthy) restaurant cuisine, wine tastings and seminars, cooking demonstrations, activities for the kids, and the main event: the Celebrity Chef Cook-Off. Celebrity chefs will compete against local chefs, with the proceeds benefiting local charity The Florida Heart Research Institute.

For the 2009 Festival, the chefs competing are as follows: Sandee Birdsong of Top Chef Miami, Kira Volz of Creek 28 Restaurant, Jeff McInnis ofTop Chef season 5 and The Ritz Carlton, and Sean Bernal of The Oceanaire Seafood Room. In a battle of the sexes, Birdsong and Volz will compete against each other, and McInnis and Bernal will face off as well. For the last round, the two winners will go head-to-head in a final cooking challenge.

Ralph Pigan of "Hell's Kitchen" will be hosting the Celebrity Chef Cook-Off, while local well-known journalists Nancy Ancrum and Robbie Bell will be emceeing the chefs' cooking demonstrations. Ancrum and Bell host the online cooking show "Join Us at the Table." Additionally, Ancrum is the Cultural Kitchen columnist for the Miami Herald.

Every concoction, company, and activity is centered around a healthy heart and lifestyle. If you want to participate, you can experience it for yourself on Sunday, April 19, at Miami's Jungle Island in the Tree Top Ballroom.
