Culinary and travel expert Anthony Bourdain's latest memoir, "Medium Raw," is the long-awaited follow-up to his best-selling book "Kitchen Confidential." Ten years have passed since Tony's aforementioned best-seller was released, and his latest work is expected to be just as gritty, revealing, and poignant.

The book is subtitled "A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook" -- and to those familiar with Bourdain's offbeat style, this comes as no surprise. Yet again, Bourdain takes the opportunity to roast well-established celebrity chefs and critics like Alice Waters, Alan Richman, Wolfgang Puck, David Chang, and Mark Bittman. The book begins with a chapter titled "Heroes and Villains," in which he places each celebrity into one category or the other. Only one person achieves dual status: Regina Schrambling, because her passionate hatred is so akin to his. "She's my hero," he says. Yet Tony believes she's also a villain because she writes about people without naming them. Although, according to The Dallas Morning News review, Bourdain does this a number of times in "Medium Raw" as well.

Other chapters in the book include rants concerning the evils of industrial meat, an after-hours "Mafia summit" of powerful chefs and faux pas cuisine, televised cookery a la "Top Chef," and the trials of fatherhood, all the while highlighting his repertoire of global and cultural experiences. Readers may find it fascinating, revolting, or downright hilarious -- even all of the above.

"Medium Raw" will be released on June 8, 2010 and is published by Ecco.
