Calphalon Commercial Hard AnodizedThis is a great stockpot. I have several stockpots in my collection but I use this one more than any other. It does a good job distributing heat and it's pretty much indestructible.

This 12-quart size is a wonderful size for making soups and chili. You can get a good hot saute and you can hold enough food for a crowd. So it's very all-purpose. If you only want to buy one stockpot, this would be a good investment.

I have had a problem with the anodized surface wearing out with other Calphalon pans. But not this one. I think it may have to do with the disparity of quality with Calphalon. Apparently, some of the pans are made overseas and some are made here in Ohio. So the quality has been spotty at times. I have also learned how to properly care for my Calphalon pans.

I think the key with Calphalon is to follow the instructions. It seems silly--instructions for a stockpot? Really? But there are rules you need to follow. Don't put Calphalon in the dishwasher. Don't use metal utensils (the company says you can but I find that they scratch). If you follow the rules you'll never have a problem with food sticking. It's kind of inconvenient that you can't just chuck this into the dishwasher. But the payoff is that hand washing is a breeze and this pot will last forever if you take good care of it.
