Capresso FrothXpress Automatic CoffeeI'm all about the froth. As a near daily chai latte drinker, the froth is one of my favorite parts. (The other is the spice. Ah, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg...). But it's really the froth that keeps me coming back to the neighborhood coffee shop. I have the spices at home. I can even buy one of my favorite loose chai blends at a tea shop across town.

What's more, I have an entire cookbook dedicated to chai. Everything from green tea chai to chai cookies to chai rice pudding. Just as I'm all about froth, the book is all about chai.

And that brings me to the one essential chai ingredient that I do not have at home: froth.

No matter what I do at home, that steaming cup of chai simply does not taste as good if the milk has not been steamed.

Capresso's FrothXpress is the key to the missing ingredient. You can have your chai at home and your froth, too. To get started, turn on the FrothXpress and let it warm up for a couple minutes. Fill the water tank (in the actual machine), then the milk tank (which is a separate unit). Attach the two, put a cup under the spout, and voila! You have steamed milk.

The milk temperature is adjustable from 120 to 170 degrees F. You can have four ounces of frothy milk in fifteen seconds. Or you can froth up to 30 ounces at once.

Froth is fantastic in cappuccinos, lattes, hot chocolate, and- did I mention?- chai.
