man o manischewitz cookoff 2009Kosher foods mega-company Manischewitz is once again holding its annual Man-O-Manischewitz Cook-Off -- and this time, they're bringing in celebrity chef star power by way of one Jacques Pepin.

The Cook-Off is asking any kosher chef to submit their best-loved main course.  Each simple meal must include Manischewitz Ready To Serve Broth as an ingredient and must be prepared from start to finish in an hour or less.

Pepin, a French TV chef and author known for his Emmy-award winning work with Julia Child as well as his popular series "Fast Food My Way," says himself that he loves to cook with Manischewitz Ready To Serve Broth. This made him a perfect choice to be included on the Cook-Off's judging panel.

Five semi-finalists will be chosen from the submitted entries and will be flown to New York City for a live cooking competition. The winner will receive a kitchen appliance makeover worth over $25,000, a cash prize of $5,000, and a loaded gift card to a grocery retail store.

Just to get an idea of what the judges are looking for, last year's winner was Amy Siegel's “Marvelous Mediterranean Falafel Sliders,” which was chosen over 10,000 other entries (as pictured above). You can read the official rules and submit your own entry on the Manischewitz official website through January of 2010.
