Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, JBF award-winning chef and frequent judge on culinary competition shows such as "Iron Chef" and "Top Chef," has just launched a new cooking website as of last week that caters exclusively to men.

The website is called Food Republic and targets an audience that Samuelsson believes is "underserved." The majority of food websites -- and food media for that matter -- caters to a female clientele. And most of those target mothers who want to provide healthy, economical cooking in their homes.

Food Republic is different. "This is the site for men who want to eat and drink well, and to live smart," reads the welcome statement.

According to the website, Food Republic aims to please men in all stages of life, from bachelors who "want to impress a date with budding culinary skills or by making a killer martini" to health-conscious fathers who want to provide meals for their kids that are "more clever than chicken nuggets or grilled cheese."

The site's minimalistic design currently divides into five sections of Food, Drink, Recipes, Places, and Politics. Samuelsson also promises that the site will pull in some star power with featured celebrity interviews from all sorts of well-known sports stars, stock brokers, musicians, and chefs. A featured interview this week highlights healthy food choices from professional NBA star Derek Fisher of the L.A. Lakers.
