This weekend, the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show will be held in Washington, D.C. as it celebrates its fifth anniversary -- and it looks to be the biggest show to date. Both A-list celebrities and local artisans comprise the exhaustive list of over 300 national foodie favorites coming to showcase their gourmet tastes in the nation's capital.

Celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray, and Paula Deen are scheduled to host cooking demonstrations during the event. Chefs from the local area include Todd Gray of Equinox, Cathal Armstrong of Restaurant Eve, and Clayton Miller and Chris Ford from Trummer's on Main.

MCES founder Denise Medved is excited to see the festival take off in such a huge direction. She believes that its tremendous growth mirrors the rise of the D.C. food scene. "In the past five years, the District has become one of the hottest places on the East Coast," she says. "It's rivaling New York."

Medved adds that the festival "has something for everyone," although it may be the most beneficial for amateur chefs who want to move a step ahead in the business. "It's also a fun destination for people who like to cook and entertain, whether they want go to a presentation on holiday cocktails, party planning tips, or Thanksgiving shortcuts," she says.

The Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show will be held November 13-14 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Visit the show's official website for information on daily schedules, ticket availability, and pricing options.
