the-deen-family-cookbook-apr-91Food Network chef Paula Deen arrived in Atlanta yesterday to promote her new cookbook which released this week, Paula Deen's The Deen Family Cookbook.

Deen hosted a convention at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center for the Atlanta Press Club luncheon, in which she sampled southern home cooking in addition to promoting her own. Her new cookbook is filled with family-friendly comfort food recipes that fans of Paula Deen's have come to expect, and respect.

Also, Deen stated that her cookbook is perfect for the changing economy. While jobs are lost and money is tight, comfort food can bring families together. "Maybe we can't eat steak right now," she said. "But that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Through these tough times, I'm seeing families coming together, more nesting going on and people who are entertaining themselves at home."

In her experience food-wise, this financial crisis is reminiscent of the aftermath of September 11, 2001's attacks. She gained many fans who sought her out for Southern home cooking with a dash of humor, and is seeing a similar turn-out these days.

At the Atlanta Press Club luncheon, Deen also revealed a few new projects that fans can be expecting in the months to come, including a new line of crab cakes, a second cookbook for children, and two new interior design product lines for decorative rugs and furniture.
