top chef loses 09 emmysDespite the comedic charm of host Neil Patrick Harris that had me in stitches during the 2009 Annual Emmy Awards Ceremony, it was still a rough night tonight for "Top Chef" execs, as well as hosts Padma Lakshmi and Tom Colicchio, when both of the show's nominated categories did not earn their respective awards.

Bravo's "Top Chef" nominations were announced for Best Reality Competition and Best Reality Host. But as many viewers of past Emmy shows were likely unsurprised to discover, consecutive winners "The Amazing Race" and Jeff Probst of "Survivor" took home the awards as they have in the past (both of which are also great shows, might I add).

All culinary hope for awards shows isn't lost, however. During the Creative Arts portion of the Emmy Awards, "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" scooped up an award for Outstanding Cinematography.

In its five completed seasons, "Top Chef" has won one Emmy: for Outstanding Editing in a Reality Series, which was awarded last year. Its sixth season, set in Las Vegas and featuring more twists and turns than ever, is currently airing on Bravo -- and it's not too late to catch up!
