Panasonic Rice Cooker I must say that I am surprised at how terrific the Panasonic rice cooker is. I'm a huge fan of the Zojirushi rice cooker and the Panasonic is a very comparable product for a fraction of the cost

The 5-cup size is more than I need everyday. But you can use it for things other than rice-- slow-cooking stocks, soups, stews, oatmeal, steaming etc. So it's worth the extra money.

It has all the features you need in a rice cooker. It's non-stick. The design is compact (very space-saving!). You can use the timer to make the rice ready at any time you want. (Set the timer for 8 hours and when you get home from work it will be ready for you.). You can cook all types of rice well (white, brown, wild, sushi). It cooks non-rice foods like soup. You can steam foods with the deep steam basket, too, This is a huge advantage!

Most important of all, the rice comes out perfect. Soft, plump, full of flavor. Just perfect.

I've heard that because of its microprocessor and Fuzzy Logic magic that it takes some work to maintain it, but I'm not sure what that entails. I also heard that you can't place it next to a faucet and I'm guessing this has to do with the Fuzzy Logic, too.

Apparently, this model even bakes cake. That doesn't even really compute in my brain in a way that makes any sense, but I'm intrigued. Clearly, this Panasonic rice cooker is a holder of many mysteries I look forward to figuring out.
