rick bayless march of dimes chicagoAward-winning celebrity chef Rick Bayless, a "Top Chef Masters" winner known for his exploration and specialization in Mexican cuisine, will be receiving yet another esteemed award at the end of the month from the March of Dimes charity organization.

It's actually been said that the March of Dimes Chicago Chef of the Year Award was created just for Bayless. This is the first year that the title has ever been awarded, and is meant to honor Bayless' achievements in the culinary arts, humanities, eco-friendliness, and the environment.

The award will be presented at the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Event, at which many of Chicago's most noteworthy restaurants and chefs will be serving samples of their signature dishes. Local eateries featured include Trader Vic's, Gabriel's, and Carmichael's Chicago Steak House.

But this is not the first and only time that the award will be handed out, however. Restaurant Radio Chicago co-host Dane Neal pointed out, "To have this fantastic award with Chef Rick Bayless as its inaugural recipient, and presented at the March of Dimes Signature Chefs event, which is by far the premier food-related charity event in Chicago, immediately makes it one of the most prestigious honors that chefs in this city will be vying for next year."

The March of Dimes Signature Chefs Event will be held at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel on Thursday, October 29.
