Stephanie Izard 2009 chicago ballDuring the 2007 season of "Top Chef," an elimination challenge took place at the Chicago Meals On Wheels Celebrity Chef Ball. Chicago's own Stephanie Izard, a long-time supporter of the charity event, was fortunate to not be eliminated that week. In fact (as most "Top Chef" fans already know by now), she went on to claim the "Top Chef" title that season.

Now, Stephanie returns to the Meals On Wheels Celebrity Chef Ball in 2009 as one of the headlining chefs. She joins the ranks of former headliners Rick Bayless, Takashi Yagihashi, and Marcus Samuelsson, to name a few.

Stephanie will be joined by co-headliners Jimmy Bannos from Heaven on Seven and Tony Priolo of Piccolo Sogno. More than 60 additional Chicago-area chefs will also be featured at the event.

Those who wish to attend can do so in two ways:

The lower-priced Reception Experience begins at 8:00 p.m. and ends at 12:30 a.m. for the Chef Tasting Party. Here, guests will be entertained with live casino gaming, an interactive photo station, and a live band or two to set the party mood. Tastings from the celebrity chefs' meals will be served along with premium wine, beer, and mixed cocktails.

For a more formal dining experience, the Chef's Table VIP Experience starts two hours earlier at 6:00 p.m.  This package features live cooking demonstrations from the chefs themselves, and a seated gourmet dinner complemented by special wine pairings.

Proceeds will benefit Meals On Wheels Chicago, which aims to raise over $200,000 this year and provide meals for 40,000 people in need.

The Chicago Meals On Wheels Celebrity Chef Ball will be held on Friday, October 16, at Macy's on 111 N. State Street.
